Q. What is FastWave?
A. FastWave is a Las Cruces broadband internet provider. We offer wireless broadband solutions for home, small businness, and corporate accounts. Soon we will offer adsl, sdsl, T1 and T3 access for the Las Cruces and surrounding areas.
Q. How fast is FastWave?
A. FastWave considers 300k/sec to be the minimum allowed speed. Any slower and we not install, you owe nothing. Our clients get, on average, 800k-1600k/sec. Speed depends on how fast your computer & LAN is, how close you are to one of our towers, and how much interference is in your area; just like your favorite radio station gets fuzzy around the same places.

Q. What does installation of FastWave include?
A. Install includes one Ethernet drop from antenna to reasonable inside access; and demonstration of operation on installer's computer. Additional hardware, software and programming is available for additional charge. Client agrees to a one year contract plus any additional features & services subject to our Fair Use agreement published on our web site:www.fastwave.biz/use.html If you can get line-of-sight to one of our towers we will install your connection on the spot !!
Q. How much does it cost to install FastWave?
A. Our standard installation is $100 (plus the pro-rated service fee through the end of the month).
Q. How much does FastWave cost per month?

Q. Can I have an example of how to pay for FastWave?
A. Example: You request an Installation for your home on the 12th. FastWave WISP responds with a 10:00 A.M. installation time on the 15th. If we are able to install, you can expect to pay $100 + $50/2 + sales tax = $125. We accept online payments (credit cards, electronic check, PayPal), paper check or credit card by phone. You can then fill out the automatic monthly payment form or complete it online.
Q. Does FastWave work in my area?
A. FastWave WISP covers approximately 2000 square miles on the East Mesa, West Mesa, behind A mountain and up to 15 or more miles North and South of Las Cruces. We can build custom links up to 45 or more miles with multi-megabit per second access. FastWave WISP considers any link under 300k/sec to be UNUSABLE. Our service is comparable business wise to DSL and cable modems. Therefore these products do not include any guarantees of uptime, CIR or usability. If you need guaranteed service call our office for a custom quote.
Q. Do I need a second phone line or DSL to use FastWave?
A. No! FastWave is completely wireless Internet access. No phone of any kind is required.

Q. My connection is slow or unresponsive, what's wrong?
A. Power cycle your radio. Find the little black or white box, that says power over ethernet on it. Pull the power cable out for thirty seconds, and plug it back in. Also try unplugging your router, most likely a dlink that we provided, for thirty seconds and plugging it back in.
Q. What virus scanner do you recommend?
A. We recommend AVAST anti virus. AVAST is an easy to use product, which has a no cost license for home use.
Q. Do I need a software firewall?
A. Fastwave will provide an industry standard broadband firewall to help keep your network private from our other subscribers. Connections from the internet are also filtered at our perimeter for further protection. Fastwave tech support may ask you to remove or disable any active firewall software you have installed on your computer.
Q. What email settings do I need?
A. Your incoming mail server should be: pop.fastwave.biz . Your outgoing mail server should be: smtp.fastwave.biz . If you use outlook express 6.0 you can simply import this file:pop.fastwave.biz.iaf. You will need to change the defaults to your name and email address. Please call the office if you need assistance.
Q. I use peer to peer programs such as bit torrent, edonkey, kazaa, morpheus, and winmx; are these against your terms of service?
A. Yes, all peer to peer programs are against our terms of service. We operate on the three strike policy. If it causes us a problem three times. We will terminate your service.
